I agree. Though I love Halo 2, every following game evolved the formula, adding more features, vehicles and twists without losing the 'Halo' feel. For me Halo 4 was a great compromise between tight teamwork, crazy vehicle/physics shenanigans and the quicker kill time of more modern shooters.
It's a shame to see 343 get so much stick for H4, since it's a damn fine game both in SP and MP.
@Septic: Agreed. Halo 5 and its beta are going to be a major test. I wonder if it might even be a good idea to delay the beta to make sure it's spot-on, and use the extra time to dedicate all resources to MCC.
EDIT: @Septic's comment below: I think you're right actually. So long as it works, it could do a lot of good.
That's fair enough. Consoles are only as good as the games you can play on them right now, and if those games aren't up to scratch, then your money's better off sitting in the bank and earning you interest.
Or in Nintendo's bank account. Ahem.
Yup, getting matchmaking times of between 2-4 minutes on all gametypes - but with some of these weird lobby issues etc.
More work to be done, but at least we can be... thankful?
Hrm. Sorry. 343 hasn't earned a reprieve yet, but the wait times really have been slashed right down.
Sure Unity can be traded in for a bit of extra money/credit too, though I'm not sure about the going rate.
Yeah, it's a steal. Sadly not available online though, so hopefully it doesn't rain tonight!
Is it cynical? Yes. Is it akin to bribery in order for us to forget all the launch problems? Yes. Is it a way of ducking a responsibility to promise that future games are properly tested and quality assured? Absolutely.
But I still reckon that this is a good thing, all-told. Talk is cheap - just look at 343/MCC, though the new patch is admittedly a big improvement - but compensation does mean something. I think they deserve some credit.
That said, I still agr...
Sadly it's a broken trial with dead marketplace links. Arguably author should have tested this first-hand before wasting people's time?
Barely made a dent. Shame, as I enjoyed the beta, but found the B2Ps like The Secret World and Guild Wars 2 didn't make a subscription worthwhile.
You can't kill WoW. That's a fallacy - people may flirt with a new MMO, but they'll go back to where their friends, guilds and communities are, where they have roots. Smaller MOBAs are finding similar problems when trying to compete with LoL, DotA 2 and SMITE.
At best you've got to coexist with the monster. For me, EVE and Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn are doing very well on the subs front.
'Tis true, but the extra month playing a game may be worth an extra few quid to some.
TBH I'm also starting to wonder if these sales damage the indie scene by totally devaluing games, but I'm too busy mindlessly consuming to care much either way. :P
Haha, yeah, they're always full of happy smiling people who are pleased that lots more players will be arriving on the servers.
Or not. :P
"-55% ?! Are you kidding me? It was released a month ago!" is currently my favourite on Civ: Beyond Earth. Such happy customers.
Well someone has to say it: The Last Guardian.
Sorry.
Good start.
Wow, amazed at the hype for this thing. Hope it actually delivers.
Would like to see more of Wild, tbh, and I'll be happy.
But that won't happen unless they take enough time to get it right, both in terms of planning, playtesting, development, hiring and firing.
Real talk, rdgneoz3. PETA are hateful and even their own on-site manifesto is worrying. I'd much rather give my money to an animal charity that actually tries to, you know, SAVE animals like the RSPCA in the UK.
This. If you're bored of consoles, the problem is that you're not making the effort to broaden your own horizons.
I play a great many indie games, handheld titles and boutique games, and it keeps the console AAAs feeling fresh too.
Well said. It's easy to forget that you're playing against other human beings in an online environment, but a little respect and human decency should let you act responsibly and in a sportsmanlike way even when the red mist comes down.
It's up to all of us to behave in a civilized way and call out stuff like this when we hear/see it. I'm no stranger to a little banter, but there's a line and I'm actually glad to see examples being made when unacceptabl...
Sigh. I agree that it's a "MAJOR black eye for Microsoft" seeing as MCC is a flagship game that doesn't work properly, but that's about it. It is being fixed albeit slowly, it is playable online, the campaigns are excellent and hyperbole is cheap. This has justifably and deservedly tarnished 343's reputation, but not permanently.
Halo 5 will make or break 343. Halo 4 was a fan package that cribbed heavily off previous games with good results, but it&...
